This document contains instructions on how to install QuickView if you are a new user or if you are currently using QuickView or the Macintosh Programmer's Toolbox Assistant.
INSTALLING QUICKVIEW FOR NEW USERS
To install QuickView, you simply copy the Adv Color Ref (QuickView) folder to your hard drive. This folder contains the QuickView application, a Help file, the Advanced Color Ref.qv database, and the Routines A…Z and Mgr.qv database. You must keep all of these files together, because for the current version of QuickView, the QuickView application and any of its databases must reside in the same folder.
*Note* QuickView and its databases are set up so that you can run them off the CD without copying them to your hard drive if you wish.
USING QUICKVIEW
To begin using QuickView, you can double click either of the QuickView databases (Advanced Color Ref.qv or Routines A…Z and Mgr.qv). If you open the Routines A…Z and Mgr.qv database, you will see a list of all Inside Macintosh routines, including those that are in the Advanced Color Imaging Reference (Palette Manager, ColorSync Manager, etc.)
If you open the Advanced Color Ref.qv database, you will see a list of the managers in the Advanced Color Imaging Reference. You also have access to all Inside Macintosh managers by clicking the Managers button.
For further information about using QuickView and its databases, you can consult the QuickView Help file, accessed through the Help menu when QuickView is active. For this release, only the Macintosh Programmer's Toolbox Assistant Help file is available. That Help file explains correctly how to use QuickView.
INSTALLING QUICKVIEW FOR CURRENT USERS
If you are currently using QuickView or the Macintosh Programmer's Toolbox Assistant and want to have access to the information in Advanced Color Imaging Reference, you must copy the Advanced Color Ref.qv file from the Adv Color Ref (QuickView) folder to the folder on your hard drive containing your QuickView application and databases. You must also replace your current version of the Routines A…Z and Mgr.qv file with the one in the Adv Color Ref (QuickView) folder. Otherwise.
If your version of the QuickView application or the help file (Toolbox Assistant Help MULTI.qv) is older than that on the CD, you should replace it as well.
Single Database Users Please Note
It isn't possible to update the Single Database version of Toolbox Assistant
using individual databases. We will support only the Multiple Database
version of Toolbox Assistant for updates in the future.
